RCB will begin their IPL 2023 season with a home game against the 5-time champions, MI, in Bengaluru. Jasprit Bumrah, a key frontline bowler for Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians, will be unavailable. However, they have another pace gun, Jofra Archer, who is fit to play this season.
Faf du Plessis leads the Royal Challengers, who will be one man down in the early stages due to an injury to Josh Hazlewood. For the 2023 season, Jason Beherendorff has been transferred from RCB to MI. RCB’s pace attack will be led by Siraj and Harshal Patel.
Reece Topley and Michael Bracewell are two notable signings for RCB. The latter had great success during New Zealand’s tour of India and will be an important figure in the RCB’s middle order.
MI needs to figure out their bowling combinations. They will be desperate to find a reliable Indian bowler without Burmah. The MI bowling attack, led by Archer, could feature a slew of new faces.
The 5th Match between Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians will take place on April 2nd, 2023 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians
Royal Challengers Bangalore (Match Odds – 2.00):
Preview:
Bangalore start their season at home against the Mumbai Indians. Bringing in Bracewell for Rutherford was a significant change in the all-rounders department. And we believe this will have a significant impact on RCB this season. They required an all-rounder who could potentially replace Maxwell in the starting XI.
In the event that Maxwell is unavailable, an in-form Bracewell can deliver with both bat and ball and play the finisher’s role admirably. Rajat Patidar has risen through the ranks and is now a reliable number three batter.
At number 5, Mahipal Lomror is likely to get another chance, followed by Shahbaz Ahmed. Dinesh Karthik is still on the team, but we don’t think he’ll be much of an asset this year.
Other wicket-keeper options, such as Finn Allen and Anuj Rawat, should be considered by the RCB. Allen is the better choice between the two. It will be interesting to see if Faf replaces Hasaranga with Michael Bracewell. Reece Topley is a promising fast bowler who could replace Josh Hazlewood.
The RCB have a strong overall squad, with experienced batters at the top and young bowling talent that has been exceptional in recent times.
Full Squad:
Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Suyash Prabhudessai, Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, Finn Allen, Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shahbaz Ahmed, Harshal Patel, David Willey, Karn Sharma, Mahipal Lomror, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood, Siddarth Kaul, Akash Deep, Reece Topley, Himanshu Sharma, Michael Bracewell, Manoj Bhandage, Rajan Kumar, Avinash Singh, Sonu Yadav

Mumbai Indians (Match Odds – 1.90):
Preview:
Last year, the Mumbai Indians had their worst IPL season, finishing at the bottom of the points table with only four wins from 14 games. It will be difficult to defeat RCB at Bengaluru’s M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
And that’s with no bowling combinations set. Throughout the 2022 season, MI experimented with various combinations. And it was only Burmah that consistently stood out with exceptional figures.
While there will be no Bumrah this time, Rohit will be hoping for some magic from Jofra Archer, who will be raring to go. Another bowler to look out for in this attack is Sandeep Warrier.
MI has made numerous changes since last year’s bowling failure. Basil Thampi, Tymal Mills, Riley Meredith, Jayadev Unadkat, and Murugan Ashwin have all been ruled out.
Mayank Markande is also not on the roster this year. This will be difficult for Rohit Sharma to handle. Another year with significant changes in the bowling department will be difficult to navigate.
Despite the presence of bowlers such as Jason Behrendorff and Duan Jansen on the squad, they cannot have three overseas bowlers because it would disrupt the batting combinations.
This means that many young Indian bowlers will make their IPL debut with MI. In terms of batting, Rohit has a strong lineup that includes Brewis, Tim David, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav.
This batting lineup has enough firepower to post a competitive score at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Full Squad:
Rohit Sharma (c), Tim David, Ramandeep Singh, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Tristan Stubbs, Dewald Brevis, Jofra Archer, Arjun Tendulkar, Arshad Khan, Kumar Kartikeya, Hrithik Shokeen, Jason Behrendorff, Akash Madhwal, Cameron Green, Piyush Chawla, Duan Jansen, Vishnu Vinod, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, Raghav Goyal
