West Indies tour of South Africa 2023: South Africa vs West Indies – 2nd ODI Preview and Updates

There isn’t as much information as we’d like for the second One-Day International (ODI) between South Africa and the West Indies because the first game was cancelled due to rain. Surprisingly, the last ODI between these two countries was also rained out in 2019, so it appears that the players will have to hope for better weather!

We’re looking forward to seeing how Wayne Parnell and Tabraiz Shamsi perform for South Africa, as they’ll be filling in for Wiaan Mulder and Keshav Maharaj, who were both injured recently.

The 2nd ODI between South Africa vs West Indies will take place on March 18th, 2023 at Buffalo Park, East London.

Match Highlights: South Africa overcome West Indies in Tauranga

South Africa (Match Odds – 1.24):

Preview:

Rassie van der Dussen remains the most dangerous batting threat, as he is quickly becoming the best batsman South Africa has produced in a long time. He’s an ODI and T20 specialist at the moment, but with 318 runs and a 45.42 average in his last seven matches, he’ll go far in this series.

Quinton de Kock should not be overlooked, though we’ll be watching how he performs after recovering from an injury.

Bowler Lungi Ngidi will be a fascinating matchup against the West Indies, as he is lightning-quick at 140kph and has 71 total wickets (not to mention a solid average of 26.52) in 41 innings. Windies batters should be able to handle the quickness because their own bowlers, such as Holder and Joseph, are also extremely quick.

Full Squad:

Temba Bavuma (captain), Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock (wkt), Tony de Zorzi, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Sisanda Magala, Lungi Ngidi, Ryan Rickelton, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs, Lizaad Williams, Rassie van der Dussen

West Indies (Match Odds – 4.10):

Preview:

The West Indies will be the underdogs in this series, but if Nicholas Pooran has an outstanding batting performance, they can turn things around. In his last ten international ODIs, he has averaged 36.40 and scored 364 runs, while also performing admirably in the BPL. He’ll have to lead the team and set a good example for the younger players, but Shai Hope can also provide some much-needed runs.

We’re eager to see how fast bowlers like Holder, Joseph, and Hosein perform on South Africa’s pitches. We continue to believe that Joseph will be the key to victory in the remaining ODIs and future T20 matches. He has 87 wickets in 53 innings and a fantastic ER of 5.21. He can be raw at times, but he has the potential to be a star if he maintains his current form.

Full Squad:

Shai Hope (captain), Shamarh Brooks, Yannic Cariah, Keecy Carty, Roston Chase, Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith

South Africa vs West Indies Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss may look to bat first on this pitch and put up a big score that will be difficult to chase in the second innings.

South Africa vs West Indies Pitch Report

Because it’s flat and the boundaries are a little smaller than other grounds, the Buffalo Park pitch definitely favours batting. It’s common to see ODI match scores of around 300, which we’re likely to see again.

The rain that ruined the first game should be gone by the 18th, and we should have a cloudy day with temperatures around 24°C.

South Africa vs West Indies Prediction

South Africa has an advantage over the Windies because they are playing at home. Both teams will be nervous after missing the first match, so we believe the South African team can catch the Windies and surprise them. Check out the odds at Cricbaba!

South Africa is the favourite to beat West Indies at the odds of 1.24.

South Africa vs West Indies Most Recommended Player for Bet:

Lungi Ngidi’s recent ODI performance of 4/62 against England is a promising sign of things to come. On his home pitches and against inexperienced WI batters, he’s likely to take at least two wickets, but possibly more. He isn’t always the most dependable bowler, but when he’s on, he takes a lot of wickets.
