In their first home game of the season, the Rajasthan Royals will face the Lucknow Super Giants. Sanju Samson batted brilliantly at number four, scoring 60 off 32 balls to lead RR to their third consecutive victory.

LSG failed to extend their winning streak after their batting failed in sticky conditions in Lucknow. Rahul’s 74 off 56 helped LSG finish batting first with 159 runs against Punjab.

It may not appear to be a large total, but it would have been sufficient, and there were chances that LSG would have failed to capitalize in the second innings of the match. KL Rahul claimed they were 10 runs short, but we believe it was simply a failure to execute the bowling plans at the end.

Nonetheless, he has some batting issues to work out. They can’t always rely on Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran to come to their aid, and they need Rahul, Pandya, and Hooda to step up and deliver.

Sanju Samson is definitely a contender for World Cup selection. The RR captain was out for a duck in two consecutive games before leading the comeback against GT.

Rajasthan Royals were 55 for 4 in the 11th over of their 178-run chase in Ahmedabad. Samson and Hetmyer combined for 59 off 27 balls for the fifth wicket.

R Ashwin also played a useful knock in the 19th Over, scoring 10 off 3 balls, ensuring that RR were comfortably placed to chase down the target in the final over.

Hetmyer’s 56 off 26 balls ensured that the Royals’ chase was not derailed after Samson’s departure. Jos Buttler is an important part of this batting lineup, but Samson and Hetmyer’s ability to stage a comeback shows that RR isn’t entirely reliant on him.

As a result, the England batsman at the top has more freedom. Yashaswi Jaiswal has also looked sharp in previous appearances and will be eager to get RR off to another flying start.

Trent Boult, who has been expensive recently, can be an important bowler for RR given the playing conditions in Jaipur. The spinners would also have a good time, making Chahal and Zampa key players to keep an eye on.

Lucknow Super Giants were defeated by Punjab Kings in a close game played at home. KL Rahul and company had chances in the game, and if their bowling and fielding had been a little better at the end, they could have won.

Mark Wood and Jaydev Unadkat will be key members of the LSG squad in Jaipur. Unadkat has previously played here, and Wood can benefit from the surface if the Giants win the toss and bowl first. KL Rahul appears to be in good form but needs to improve his strike rate at the top.

But, before he can shift gears, the captain must be confident in his middle order. While Krunal Pandya did play a useful knock in the chase against SRH, he hasn’t had much of an impact.

Furthermore, Deepak Hooda appears to have lost his way. This is causing concern in the LSG camp, as they appear to be becoming increasingly reliant on Marcus Stoinis and, in particular, Nicholas Pooran in the lower order.

These two are capable finishers, but if given larger roles on a consistent basis, their failure could cost Lucknow dearly. But if the two get going and Ayush Badoni joins in, LSG can finish on a high note and successfully chase a total.
