Australia Tour of India 2022: India vs Australia – 2nd T20I Preview and Updates

India batted brilliantly in the first match, scoring over 200 runs, but was left helpless as Australia easily chased down the total. India’s bowling has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks, and it will need to find answers quickly.

With only three matches remaining in the India vs. Australia T20 series, this match becomes a must-win for team India. Australia, on the other hand, has won the last four T20 internationals against India and will look to extend that lead.

The 2nd T20I of India vs Australia will take place on September 23rd, 2022 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.

India (Match Odds – 1.60):

Preview:

Rohit Sharma’s T20I team is in serious trouble, particularly when it comes to death bowling. In Bumrah’s absence, Bhuvi has now given up 16, 14, and 19 runs in the last four games. Bhuvi also gave up more than 50 runs for the first time in his career. Harshal Patel, who was making his comeback, scored 22 runs in the 18th over of the game, changing the game’s momentum. India fielded six bowlers, including all-rounder Hardik Pandya, but were unable to defend a total of more than 200.

This was the first time Virat Kohli had lost while part of a team that scored 200 or more runs. While captaining the team, he defended it 12 times. So it’s clear that Sharma is struggling not only with his bowling but also with the proper utilization of his players.

The only bright spot from the first T20I was Axar Patel. In his four overs, he took three wickets for 17 runs. He broke Finch and Green’s opening partnership and then sent Green to the pavilion. India’s fielding performance was also subpar. They made three catches, two of which were Cameroon Green’s. Even Yuzvendra Chahal and Karthik did not appeal for an LBW when the replay showed Green could have entered the tent earlier. Chahal’s form is also causing problems in India. If the game against Hong Kong is excluded, India’s top spinner has given up 10 runs in an over in the last four games.

Batting-wise India has no such problems. KL In recent games, Rahul, Sharma, Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav at the helm has ensured that the score is always above 170. Rahul, who hit his 18th fifty, still needs to improve his strike rate. Yadav scored 46 runs in 25 balls, including four sixes. He has been reliable throughout his career and is an excellent choice at number four. In the first T20I, Hardik Pandya scored 71 off 30 balls. Pandya has been outstanding since rejoining the team last year.

Full Squad:

KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik(w), Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin, Deepak Hooda

Players to watch out for:

Virat Kohli

Despite only scoring two runs on seven balls in the first game of the series, the right-handed batter averages 51.22 in the format. In this series, he is expected to start the first inning.

KL Rahul

The opener scored 55 runs off 35 balls in Tuesday’s game, giving him a half-century in three games in this format.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Despite being expensive in the first game, the spinner managed to get Tim David out. In his last ten internationals, he has taken 19 wickets.

Possible Playing XI:

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah

Australia (Match Odds – 2.35):

Preview:

David Warner was not missed in Australia. Aaron Finch and Cameroon Green have made it clear that they will be opening the series. This year, Aaron Finch is Australia’s leading run-scorer. Green, whose previous high score was 36 before the game, demonstrated that he will be in the business for a long time. Green not only scored 61 but also took Suryakumar’s wicket at an important stage. What, no Stoinis? Not a problem.

Steve Smith appeared assured in his 35 runs off 24 balls. His performance will be critical for Australia as they prepare for the T20I World Cup next month. Maxwell, who scored 169 runs in two games at a strike rate of 172.44 last time out, was sold cheaply, but his presence at number four will be dangerous in Nagpur. Tim David, a debutant, struggled to make an impression at the international level. At the end, his 18 runs in 14 balls put pressure on Matthew Wade. Wade pitched a masterful inning of 45 pitches in only 21 pitches. It had six fours and two sixes.

Australia, like India, is having difficulty getting the most out of their pace attack. After taking Sharma’s wicket early, Hazelwood, Australia’s leading wicket-taker this season with 16 wickets at an economy of less than 7, went for 10 runs in an over. Cummins went a step further, allowing 12 runs in an over. He has only taken three wickets in his last eight games. Nathan Ellis drew on his experience playing T20s all over the world. Ellis has now taken 7 wickets in two T20Is this year.

Full Squad:

Aaron Finch(c), Cameron Green, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, Tim David, Matthew Wade(w), Pat Cummins, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Kane Richardson, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Daniel Sams

Players to watch out for:

Steve Smith

The number three batter is in fine form, having scored over 200 runs in three international appearances this month.

The 23-year-old all-rounder is quickly establishing himself as one of Australia’s top players across all formats. He was named Player of the Match on Tuesday after hitting 61, taking a wicket, and contributing two catches.

Josh Hazlewood

In the first game of the series, the right-arm fast medium bowler dismissed both of India’s openers. He is two wickets shy of reaching 50 dismissals in this format.

India vs Australia Toss Prediction

Teams successfully defended the target 9 times in 12 T20Is. This includes the last three games played at this location. The average first-inning score is 153, which is 25 points higher than the average second-inning score. However, it will be raining prior to the game. As a result, there will be dew in the second inning. As a result, the team that wins the toss should bowl first.

The sky will be partly cloudy. Early in the day, scattered thunderstorms are expected. The temperature will range between 22 and 30 degrees Celsius. The wind will be blowing at 10-15 km/h from the west. The pitch favors batters in the first two innings but favors pitchers in the third. The longer boundaries make it difficult for batters to score. On this pitch, Deepak Chahar has a career-high 6 wickets for 7 runs in the second innings.

India vs Australia Prediction

Both of these teams are expected to be contenders for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year, and this game will be another good litmus test to see how they stack up against one another. Australia dominated the first game of the series, but we believe India will win this one. Check out the odds at Cricbaba!
